Potassium fluoride dihydrate is used as a stationary phase in gas chromatography. It is also used for the conversion of chlorocarbons into fluorocarbons through Finkelstein reaction. Further, it is used as a fluxing agent of silver brazing and metallurgical processing. It serves as an analytical reagent, complexing agent and masking agent.
