Polygalacturonic acid is reagent which sequesters metal ions and produces gels that can be used for the production of biomolecules. It is used for drug release or to immobilize cells and enzymes . Polygalacturonic acid may be used to identify, differentiate and characterized plant cell wall degrading polygalacturonase(s) from fungi.
