Fast and easy decontamination of EtBr or SYBR Green containing solutions.

Decontamination and removal of ethidium bromide or SYBR™ Green waste is often time consuming and expensive. bondEX EtBr cartridges save time and money as the prefiltered ethidium bromide or SYBR™ Green containing solution is simply poured onto the cartridge resulting in a flow-through free of ethidium bromide or SYBR™ Green (clarification filters included in the kit).

For larger volumes a 1L funnel can be connected to the top of the cartridge. Up to 50 mg of ethidium bromide can be adsorbed onto the bondEX EtBr cartridge. A removable indicator cartridge signals saturation of the bondEX cartridge by red colour or UV fluorescence. The bondEX EtBr cartridges are recommended for the extraction of ethidium bromide from diluted EtBr solutions like TAE or TBE gel buffer as well as for more concentrated solutions.Similar to ethidium bromide, SYBR™ Green is a highly sensitive fluorescent stain for detecting nucleic acids in agarose and polyacrylamide gels. According to the manufacturer SYBR™ Green is less mutagenic than ethidium bromide. The problem arises how to store and decontaminate SYBR™ Green waste and SYBR™ Green containing solutions. Solutions can be passed through a bondEX EtBr cartridge as described for ethidium bromide waste. The binding capacity for SYBR™ Green is comparable to EtBr.

Kit components: bondEX starter kit – 2 cartridges (50 mg EtBr capacity each), 6 indicator cartridges, 1L funnel and adapter, 1 adapter for connection to container, 10 folded filters and 1 plastic funnel.

bondEX 50 – each set consists of 1 cartridge (50 mg EtBr capacity) with 2 end caps, hazard label, supporting ring, 3 indicator cartridges, 2 folded filters.

High capacity - up to 50 mg EtBr or SYBR™ Green can be bound to the resin

  • No interference by other dyes like methylene blue, because indicator cartridges can be replaced
