Description

Binds to LRP1 and facilitates receptor-mediated transcytosis of cargo across the BBB

Angiopep-2-Cys is a synthetic peptide able to specifically interact with low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 1 (LRP1) receptors present on brain endothelial cells and neurons. Angiopep-2-Cys is a conjugate of Angiopep-2 (Cat. No. 8828) and Cystein, and can be used to functionalize LNPs via thiol-maleimide click chemistry to target LRP1 receptors present on blood-brain barrier (BBB). mRNA LNPs functionalized with Angiopep-2-Cys shows improved transfection efficiency in cultured brain endothelial and neuronal cells, and in vivo, after systemic administration in mice.
